Apr 4, 2014 by

This weekend sees the start of Easter festivities at lots of local attractions, with many opportunities for special days out. (For a full guide to the school holidays, check out What’s on for kids this Easter).

For the weekend ahead, here is a round-up of great local ideas for people in Twickenham, Richmond and nearby areas…

Top weekend tip

Our top tip for this weekend (and for the Easter weeks ahead) is to visit the newborn animals at Hounslow Urban Farm. Baby boom is in full swing this season, with lots of new arrivals, including ducklings, lambs, calves, kids, chicks and bunnies. From Monday 7th there will also be special Easter egg trails and crafts on offer and children are invited to help bottle feed the newborn lambs and assist with pony grooming.

Local Days out

This weekend, lots of local attractions have kicked off their special Easter activities. There’s Loads of Roald Dahl-themed Easter activities at Kew Gardens, Easter family fun at Hampton Court palace and Egg-citing activities at the London Wetland Centre.

This is also the first weekend of the year when local gem, Turner’s House in St Margarets, opens its doors to the public. Other great local Places to visit include the National Trust properties, Ham House and Gardens and Osterley Park.

As the holiday kicks off, you might also like to take a look at our round-up of fabulous free outdoor spaces in the Everyday Fun page. Take a walk through Crane Park and discover the wooden carvings and the Old Shot Tower… or a lengthy ramble in one of our Royal parks, with horse riding, wildlife and adventure playgrounds, or how about a family bike ride along the Thames tow path or a boat ride?
