October Half Term Ideas
As the Autumn half-term approaches, here are some local highlights on offer in the Twickenham and Richmond areas to entertain kid from Sat 24th Oct – Sun 1st Nov 2015, including lots with a Halloween flavour.
Adventure Days at Marble Hill Playcentres
New for half-term, these half-day drop-off sessions are for ages 3-5 or 5-11, for £25 a session. Featuring pirates, survivors and detectives, every session is led by experienced and qualified childcare professionals. Book online.
Half Term Fun at Ham House & Gardens
Visit Ham House for a ghostly garden trail with spooky prize (£2 per trail) and themed arts and crafts activities. Dress up in a Hallowe’en outfit and enjoy the spooky fun, including family ghost tours
Half Term Fun at Osterley Park
Osterley offers lots of outdoor play and activities for kids, as well as special holiday workshops with crafts, Little Seedlings Gardening Club and a 2-day Halloween Pumpkin Festival.
Half Term Fun at Hampton Court Palace
All sorts of attractions await at Hampton Court, including family trails, Tudor kitchens, ghostly tours, the famous maze and lots more.
Spookfest at London Museum of Water and Steam
Visit the London Museum of Water and Steam and help discover the spooky secrets of the historic engine houses and maybe meet a few of their past occupants! Also Halloween craft activities, a ride on the Ghost Train and a trip through the creepy wood!
Half Term Fun at Strawberry Hill House
A selection of Halloween themed activities for children, including stories and crafts. Advance booking is required and young children must be accompanied by an adult.
Lego and outdoor fun at the Wetland Centre
London Wetland Centre makes a great outdoor day out for nature-loving kids and, this half term, you can also enjoy three daily Lego workshops for young and old!
Magical Adventure and Monster Adventure with Nature Links
Lots of outdoor fun in Crane Park for ages 3-8. These holiday adventures encourage free play, learning and exploring for children who don’t mind getting dirty! £15 per child for a 2-hour session.
Fiendish Fun with Brilliant Play
Visit Marble Hill Park on 29th and 30th October for ‘Fiendish Fun’ outdoor play sessions for ages 3-8. Half day sessions cost £30 and include scavenger hunts, arts, crafts and pumpkin carving.
Spooky Create and Grow at Squires Garden Centre
Squires in Twickenham has lots of drop-in fun for kids this half-term, including paint a glow in the dark skeleton, terracotta pumpkin tea light holders, spooktacular spot the difference and a creepy pumpkin pursuit around the centre.
Half Term at Kew Gardens
Oh no! Pirate Pepperbeard and his dastardly crew are plotting to steal Kew’s valuable spices! Save the plants in an exciting adventure around Kew Gardens, chasing pirates and foiling their dastardly plot to steal our spices. Plus all of the usual Kew attractions.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears at Lyric Hammersmith

Half Term Dinosaur week at Watermans Arts Centre
A week of dinosaur themed activities, including arts and crafts, drama and an unmissable theatre show – What to do When You Find a Dinosaur. And while you’re here, why not explore Dinosaur Land, make your own Dino Bath Bomb or attend a Dinosaur Adventure Drama Workshop?
KOOSA Kids holiday camp
For people who need full day activities, KOOSA Kids holiday club runs every day of the school holidays in Twickenham, from 8am to 6pm, or 10-4pm. Prices start from £19.25 per session with discounts available on full week bookings.
Intensive Swimming with Springboard
Crash course for ages 3+ – you will be amazed at how much progress is made in one week! Classes take place at Stanley Primary School, Teddington. 5 x 30 minute lessons at the same time every day, with a group of 3 children
Halloween Drama with Dramacube
Two-day Halloween workshops for 4-6yr olds and 7-11yr olds, on 29th-30th October at Hampton Hill Theatre. Be inspired by all things weird and wonderful including ghosts and ghouls, witches and wizards, jack-o-lanterns and cobwebs galore. 9.30am – 4.00pm.
Horse Drawn Carriage Rides
Halloween themed carriage rides in Richmond Park for ages 8+. Enjoy Richmond Park at night, when all kinds of creatures emerge and learn the amazing history of the park.
Creative workshops at Orleans House Gallery
